Intel To Soon Have Its Own App Store

liitle time ago Intel was in news for creating the fastest Operating System, the LINUX based Moblin, which took only 2 seconds to boot leaving no room for sleep modes and hibernating modes. This time Intel is taking attention for something which is on its way for the users.

With everybody adding their own App store, Intel too is contemplating to join the club. Yes, you read it right. Intel is soon going to come out with its Application store for netbooks. In last few years a lot of avenues had started their own App store. In fact service providers too have gotten into preparing their own Application store, Vodafone is one of those. Others in the list are – BlackBerry, Acer, Orange, Windows Mobile, Samsung (it first started out only in UK, and later extended its App store to the global market), Android, and Nokia.?? But even if Intel’s App Store is out, it is not going to have a big number of applications, not at least in near future. And definitely not like that of Apple App store which has around a billion applications for free download.

Take A Brief Look Into the Intel App Store:

Intel seems to be following Apple. Like Apple, Intel will also give 70% of the total revenue to the developers. And Intel’s App would be work with with Intel’s Moblin or Win 7.

bring Intel more sales?~So, the question is will Intel, like Apple, benefit from its App store}?

To give a definite answer to this question would be misleading. But yes, Intel’s target audiences are different from Apple’s. And netbook is totally a different thing.?? For iPhone market, App stores help in increased sales. Also, with Google Chrome OS out in the market, a lot of applications would not really be of use.
So now we will have Apps effect all over, apart from those many softwares.

Symbian’s App Store

Finally Symbian has its App store -Symbian Horizon. With almost all the cell phone OS applications stores out in the market, Symbian too had to make this move and come out with their App store.

Here is what the Symbian team has to say about theitr App store:

???We recognize that developers face many challenges in bringing their products to market on Symbian devices,??? admitted Symbian Foundation executive director Lee Williams. ???In particular, the diversity of application stores in our ecosystem increases the burden on developers by requiring multiple submission and review processes. But this diversity can also offer an advantage over competitors??? closed systems, where applications sometimes receive arbitrary or commercially motivated rejections. Symbian Horizon retains this advantage while reducing the burden by becoming a conduit to multiple stores, helping developers reach the largest global mobile market in the world more efficiently.???

Well, I got to know about this on a blog; in a random search. Below are few extracts from the blog post with the Symbian news.

“Most cellphone manufacturers had already estimated the potential of a Symbian application store. So, there are application stores already in place like the Nokia Ovi Store, Samsung Application Store and Sony Ericsson???s PlayNow Arena. Also, stores from China Mobile (Mobile Market) and AT&T (MediaMall) offer Symbian apps. The good thing is that all the offerings from Horizon will be integrated in these application stores”.

As per what is given in the blog, the Symbian App store will store around 50 applications. In the subsequent year, the number is to go higher.Even after 1000 application, Symbian is going to be far behind Apple App store (in terms of the number of applications Apple store offers).Facts from the blog, “Symbian would still be lagging the Apple application store by some 100,000 applications. But the huge market share may really help Symbian to compete with the big Apple.”
